Winter slaw

These ingredients are always plentiful during the Winter in the UK - and why not have a cleansing salad in the colder months? Red cabbage is great for detoxifying the liver and the clementines add some vitamin C to warn off colds and the walnuts add some protein to make it a filling and tasty salad. 

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1/2 red cabbage, outer layers removed an finely sliced

  • 2 clementines, peeled and broken into segments,

  • 1/3 cup of walnut OR pecans

  • 1/2 apple, finely chopped

Tahini dressing:

  • 2 tbs light tahini

  • 1 tbs olive oil

  • 1 tbs filtered water

  • 1/2 raw clear honey or normal clear honey or agave

  • salt & pepper


Prep the dressing - whisk everything together in a small bowl. To assemble the salad. Place the red cabbage in a large serving bowl or dish. Arrange the clementine pieces on top, followed by the apple and then scatter with the walnuts or pecans. Drizzle with the dressing just before serving.
